Charitable Lead Trust
Elizabeth Ann Angle Freeland's connection with Shippensburg University spans over 68 years. It began when she earned a teaching degree from Shippensburg State Teachers College in 1945. She spent her 28-year career teaching elementary grades in the Boiling Springs School District. "I remember receiving a lovely hand-written note from Dr. Gerald Leidy, the father of one of my second graders," Anne recalled. "He thanked me for all I had done to make his daughter Lynnette's year a great success."Over the years, the connection to Shippensburg University became a family tradition. Ann's daughter Sally '76 earned a B.S.Ed. in library science. Her grandson Kevin received his B.S.B.A. in management from the university in 2006.
Ann never forgot that note from Professor Leidy, a faculty member at SU. Inspired by a gift Leidy's widow Vivian '74m made to the SU Foundation, Ann made a commitment to help future Shippensburg University students. Through two charitable lead trusts, set up through the SU Foundation, Ann is funding The Angle-Feeser Family Scholarship Endowment. She will receive tax benefits for six years, provide scholarships for several students in perpetuity, and pass a sizable inheritance to her family tax free.
